These include town, church, cemetery, school, and military records; photographs; maps; postcards; scrapbooks; and much more. All of the collections on Digital Commonwealth are available for free. We will also cover the history and background of Digital Commonwealth, how to search and explore the site, and how to add your local organization’s collections.

Jean Maguire is the Library Director at NEHGS, where she oversees patron services; collection development, access, and conservation; and the NEHGS volunteer program. Jean joined the NEHGS staff in 1999 after receiving her Master’s in Library and Information Science from Simmons College. A frequent speaker on genealogy and library topics, she has also served as President of Digital Commonwealth and Treasurer of the Massachusetts Library System. Her areas of research interest include Irish and Italian genealogy.
